Igor Kalaba - Analog photography
Shot at Placa de Katalunya during the 2011 protests.
Shot in an NGO that deals with drug addicts, during a shoting of a documentary on people from the borderlines of society. He is a winner, he has successfully defeated his addiction, even though he still continues to wage a battle day after day, not only to avoid the drugs but another one - one of prejudice and exclusion, thus his face is hidden. The small teddy bear that he is holding is usually held in hands while a person is in a therapy session, something of a mascot.
Go to linkProtests in 2012, which started over a park which was destroyed in order to create space for new buildings. The whole story reeked of corruption, and a well documented corruption at that. The protests have been going on for more then two months now, and have turned into something bigger, a general outcry of people who have finally awoken from their almost 20 years long civil slumber. Gatherings, walks, chanting, artistic performances, concerts and many other peaceful methods were used.

Even more pictures from the protests. The branches in the mirror belong to the old oak tree where the protesters usually rally before they march the streets.
The creative mind behind the Slama land art festival, Osijek, and art colony using straw for awesome structures. I have participated this summer (2012), the theme was Fenix. Great people, incredible ideas and all together a great time! Be sure to check: www.slama.hr
Through fire and ashes, to rise again. I know it's somewhat of a cliche, but I love the idea and agree with it. The last night of the Slama land art fest is reserved for the burning of the statue build together by all of the participants and anyone willing. It was quite funny to see people panicking when they realised just how close they were standing. Was quite tricky to follow the light meter and balance the camera on some, well can't remember what it was...
A story behind it
